What is the ‘Contacts’ feature?

What is Contact? 


A contact is a set of information about a visitor who is willing to be contacted by the company to whom they are providing the data.


For example, just like how we saved contacts of our friends and family on our phone, the bot collects and stores the details of the visitors that it interacts with, for future use.


When is a contact created? 


It is said to be created when the visitor interacting with the bot provides either his/her phone number or email address. 


i-genie also adds other system related information like values of the variables collected during their chat as well as information about the city, country, zip code etc..


There are three ways by which contact can be created in i-genie: 


  • * Using ‘Form’ – With this action block, the visitors will be asked to fill up the form while having the conversation with the bot. Users can define the fields of the form as per their preference
  • * Using ‘Collect input’ – Using this action block, the visitors will be asked to answer the questions while having a conversation with the bot. The user can define the question that they would like to ask their visitors
  • * Passing contact details via APIs – When contact details are received via an API call and stored into contact variables



Why are contacts important? 


Depending on the use case for which you are using the chatbot, contacts can have varying importance.


Going with the majority, if you are reading this article it most likely means you are using the chatbot to generate leads. 


With contacts, 

  • * You can view all the leads generated by the bot
  • * You can filter and export the lead list for filtering or importing to CRM
  • * Schedule reports to be sent on a daily/weekly basis

How do I export the contact list / Inquiries collected by the bot? 


There are three options available to export the contacts / inquiries collected by the bot, they are:


  • * Direct Export – Select the date range, required columns, and export the list into CSV file
  • * Schedule Report – Receive the contact report on the defined email addresses either daily or weekly
  • * Integration with CRM – Integration the chatbot with your CRM, so that whenever a lead / inquiry is generated, it is automatically sent to your CRM
